This year, they’re partnering with the Santa Ana Star Casino which is graciously hosting a drop-off location for the public. But our Earth Day events make it easier for people in the community to come to a location they’re familiar with and to feel good about doing something good for our planet in celebration of Earth Day.” The hours for the event are from 9 am – 3 pm at Santa Ana Star Casino. Recycling Company Spends Earth Day Collecting Old Electronics from the Public Albuquerque, NM / Albuquerque Computer & Electronics Recycling Co. exists to prevent e-waste from entering landfills in Albuquerque and all over the nation. Their storefront is always open for electronics drop-offs and they do electronics pick-ups for businesses nationally. But due to COVID, it had been a few years since they had been able to do a public event. On Earth Day, April 22, 2022, they teamed up with a local tech company to host their first recycling event since before the pandemic. The recycling event took place from 9 am – 1 pm and was open to the public as well as staff from the local tech company. To make sure that everyone was still safe, they had a clear drop-off route mapped out on the property to prevent crowds from gathering or unneeded interactions. Throughout the four-hour donation time, community members donated 1,000 pounds of e-waste. Albuquerque Computer & Electronics Recycling Co.’s Operations Manager, Phil Nairn, explained, “It was just so nice to see so many smiling faces,” referring to the mask mandate being lifted by the New Mexico governor in February 2022. The public recycling event is hopefully just the first of many events as restrictions have been lifted and many people are more willing to come to public events. At the event, Albuquerque Computer & Electronics Recycling Co. collected all sorts of electronics, including smartphones, laptops, computers, small kitchen appliances, TVs, and home office equipment. Many items, both at the event and at their brick and mortar, are free to recycle. Some items have a small processing fee per pound to help the company cover its costs. Greg Mullen and TJ Trout Talk Cybersecurity, Promote Food and Cash Donations for Roadrunner Food Bank Albuquerque, NM / Friday, November 19, 2021, local Albuquerque radio station Cumulus Albuquerque 96.3 KKOB hosted their 3rd Annual Radiothon to Fight Hunger in New Mexico. The purpose of the radiothon was to encourage people to bring money or food donations for Roadrunner Food Bank. Albuquerque Computer & Electronics Recycling Co. had the opportunity to sponsor the event. On air, I shared some tips about cybersecurity while encouraging people to bring their food donations in or text a financial donation.” Mullen and Trout took the opportunity to share with listeners about the increased threat of cybersecurity attacks, explaining how individuals and businesses can prevent security breaches. From the start of the drive on November 17 through November 30 (Giving Tuesday), the community donated a total of $27,288.
